Tom Muha, Ph.D.
Dr. Tom Muha is a Managing Partner, a consulting group dedicated to helping leaders in medical organizations enhance patient and staff satisfaction. His specialty is delivering research-based organizational consulting and individual coaching for executives and managers in hospital systems seeking to achieve higher levels of success.

Dr. Muha received his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Organizational Development from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1977, and moved to Maryland in 1980. He has studied Strategic Planning at the Harvard Business School and Physician Communication at Yale University.

He founded Chesapeake Associates Corporate Consultants to train corporate executives in Situational Leadership, Relationship Skills, One Minute Management, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Strategic Planning, Balanced Score Card, and Strategy Mapping for Executive Teams. His corporate clients have included Sealy Mattress, The Rouse Company, Whiting-Turner Construction, Mercantile Bank, and many others.

Over the past few years, Dr. Muha has become a leading practitioner of Positive Organizational Psychology, which is the scientific study of individuals and organizations that have achieved the highest levels of success and satisfaction. He designed and conducted research to determine the factors that create a culture of caring for both patients and staff within a highly rated hospital.

Armed with his own research as well as studies of other “great” organizations, emotionally intelligent leaders, and fully engaged employees, Dr. Muha has developed a model of how to deliver world class care by meeting the needs of all of the stakeholders.

With this model in mind, he co-founded PROPEL Performance, LLC to work in partnership with hospital executives, physicians, and nurses to propel their organization from good to great.

Linda R. Burton, ACC, BS, CPC
Linda Roszak Burton is Managing Partner, Certified Professional Coach, and Certified PROPEL© Coach. She has over 25 years of experience helping organizations create a strategic link between human performance and business results. Her practice includes conducting organization cultural assessments to support strategic design initiatives, enhance existing and healthy operational based initiatives, and discover opportunities for redefinition of business strategy. As a leadership and team coach, Linda is passionate about working with individuals and diverse teams to resolve conflicts, build consensus, and foster an environment of collaboration and accountability. 

Linda holds coaching certifications in Brain-Based Coaching from the NeuroLeadership Institute, Retirement Options Coaching from Career Partners International, and Positive Psychology Training, License # 1816335. In addition, Linda is certified in a number of assessment instruments to support client awareness, insight and goal-clarification: Everything DiSC®, Conflict Dynamics Profile® (CDP), Retirement Success Profile™ and LifeOptions Profile™. She has completed coursework pursuing a M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Management at the University of Baltimore and holds a B.S. in Health Education from Virginia Tech.

Her community work includes current board member of Integrace, Inc., the Cool Kids Campaign, and is an appointed member of the Governor’s Wellmobile Advisory Board. Linda is past President of the Executive Alliance, former member of the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland Nominating Committee, former Chair of the Board for the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and former board member of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.

Linda is an Affiliate Member of IOC, at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and a member of the NeuroLeadership Institute (NLI). She is a member of Global International Coach Federation (ICF), and the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA).

Nancy R. Smit, MBA, RPT, RRT
Nancy R. Smit, MBA, RPT, RRT is a Managing Partner of PROPEL Performance, LLC. Ms. Smit specializes in the design and implementation of strategic business plans, networking arrangements, and practice enhancement programs for hospitals, medical practices and health care organizations. She has over 25 years of experience in health care consulting, marketing and management, with particular emphasis on combining positive management strategies with sound fiscal policies thereby creating effective and efficient health care organizations.

Ms. Smit received her undergraduate degree in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut, her respiratory therapy degree from University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics, and her master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland. Following completion of her physical therapy and respiratory therapy training, she directed several Washington, D.C. area hospital-based Physical Therapy and Respiratory Therapy programs, and served as the Administrative Director for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Washington Hospital Center.

Upon successful completion of her MBA, Ms. Smit became the co-founder of SHR Associates, Inc. (SHR), a regional practice management, marketing and consulting firm based in Annapolis, Maryland. Since 1981, SHR has been providing a broad range of professional services for hospitals, physician groups, and related health care entities in the areas of organizational design and relationships, personnel administration, professional fee billing and third party reimbursement, managed care and revenue maximization, strategic planning and marketing, finance and business management. SHR’s clients range from large, tertiary hospitals and hospital-based academic physician groups to smaller, independent single and multi-specialty physician practices. Ms. Smit is the President and CEO of SHR Associates, Inc. and a member of the Maryland Chapter of Medical Group Management Association (MDMGMA).

Janet Ladd, MS, PCC, CPC
Janet Ladd is a Certified PROPEL© Coach with over 25 years of experience in business, technology, human resources and consulting.  With a passion for helping individuals and organizations flourish, Janet provides individual and corporate coaching and consulting services to develop talent, support organizational and individual change, and improve personal and business performance.

Janet is a graduate of Newfield Network, one of the most highly regarded accredited coach training institutes in the world.  Additionally, she has attended certified coach training in applied positive psychology through MentorCoach and in Energy Leadership through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC).

Certified in a number of assessment instruments, Janet is able to utilize the following tools to support client awareness, insight and goal-clarification: Extended-DiSC®, Conflict Dynamics Profile® (CDP), Campbell Leadership Index, and Energy Leadership Index (ELI).  In addition to her coach training, Janet holds a Master of Science Degree in Applied Behavioral Science (OD/HRD) from Johns Hopkins University.

Janet is a founding member of the Maryland Chapter of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and helps lead its Professional Development Committee. She is an Affiliate Member of IOC, at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School affiliate, the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society and Leadership Howard County.

Corinne M. Lears, MBA, CPC
Corinne M. Lears, MT (ASCP), MBA is a Certified PROPEL© Coach and has over 25 years of experience in health care consulting and management. Ms. Lears has incorporated positive management strategies with traditional business management techniques to improve practice environments, increase staff engagement, and create more successful health care organizations.

Ms. Lears received her undergraduate degree in Mount Saint Agnes College in Baltimore, Maryland and completed an internship in medical technology at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Ms. Lears received her Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in health care administration from Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland.  She has worked in several Maryland hospitals and served on the Board of Directors of Central Laboratories of Associated Maryland Pathologists.

In addition to her work with PROPEL Performance, LLC, Ms. Lears is a health care management consultant for SHR Associates, Inc. (SHR), a regional practice management, marketing and consulting firm based in Annapolis, Maryland. Ms. Lears’ experience with SHR has included a broad range of professional services for hospitals, physician groups, and related health care entities in the areas of organizational design and relationships, personnel administration, revenue optimization, strategic planning and marketing, finance and business management.
